Fund Raising Ideas

Part of the proceeds of our 2015 fund raising for the Department will be shared with the State for use in one of their established programs.    Below are some ideas.

After receiving permission from your Chapter, below is a guide to help you  approach a non-profit organization to partner with them:

DAV MN Offers Fundraising Opportunity to Minnesota Non-Profits

The Disabled American Veterans, Department of Minnesota (DAV MN), a Congressionally chartered 501 C4 non-profit veterans service organization, with the assistance of Savers (www.savers.com) has initiated a new program in which Minnesota non-profit organizations may participate in a joint clothing drive in an effort to generate revenue for community projects, programs and services.

Does your school need new sports equipment, shop machinery or band instruments? Worried about your children going door to door selling fundraising products to generate revenue for a sports team or class trip? Does your church need some additional funding for a community project? Could your non-profit organization benefit from a revenue boost to fund a start-up project? Consider a joint fundraising event with your local DAV MN Chapter.

DAV MN works with Savers to conduct our thrift collection fundraising efforts in Minnesota. Under this new program, Savers has agreed to offer qualified non-profits a matching payment per pound of clothing received during a joint clothing drive event (currently twenty cents per pound). If the community members donate 1000 pounds of gently used clothing, shoes, and assorted textile goods, the DAV MN Chapter and the participating non-profit receive $200 each. 10,000 pounds of donations yield $2,000 for each the DAV MN and participating non-profit, and so on.

A collaboration for a community clothing drive with the DAV MN is not only a great way to generate funds for various community projects, but it is also a great opportunity to increase community awareness about your non-profit’s mission, programs and local activities. At the same time, you can take pride in the fact that the joint efforts are helping to support our 362,000 Minnesota Veterans and their families.

The DAV MN currently has 28 Chapters throughout Greater Minnesota participating in our thrift program. The program has been a great way for our local Chapters and volunteers to bring in revenue to support programs and services for our Minnesota Veterans, their dependents and survivors.

For more information about this program and/or to acquire contact information for your local DAV MN Chapter, contact Josh at DAV MN Department HQ (651-291-1212) josh@davmn.org

SOS (Save our State)

This program can be as simple as bring a container with a screwed off lid to your meetings and asking for donations.
